Since 1965, WSOS Community Action Commission has been administering programs and support services to individuals, families, and communities. Established in response to the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, WSOS was created to aid in the war on poverty. WSOS is a non-profit agency devoted to assisting families and individuals become self-sufficient.
We help people help themselves.

The name WSOS comes from the counties we operate in.
Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca.

June 3, 2009 - Assistance available to repair Tiffin's homes
Residents living within the City of Tiffin may qualify for help with repairs to their homes or down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers. This help is available through the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP).

Norwalk residents seeking to repair those broken stairs, leaky roofs, or faulty wiring can find help through the City of Norwalk’s Repair Program.

June 3, 2009 - Elidia Webb retires after 15 years at WSOS
On June 19 at 2 p.m., Elidia Webb will say farewell officially to all her friends and well-wishers at an open house at the WSOS Senior Center at Laurelhurst Senior Housing complex, 900 N. Woodland Ave., Clyde.

The WSOS Early Childhood Development Center in Pemberville, Eastwood school district, was recently honored when it received the highest Step Up to Quality award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), Bureau of Child Care and Development, a Three-Star Award.

May 26, 2009 - WSOS homes in BG’s Indian Trace gets its first homebuyer
Chad and Rachel Fletcher of Perrysburg took the first step to becoming homeowners recently when they signed documents to purchase their first home, which will be located in the Indian Trace subdivision in Bowling Green. [continued]

May 26, 2009 - Clyde Senior center welcomes new supervisor
Participants at the WSOS Senior Center in Clyde invited the community to attend an Open House recently to welcome their new site supervisor, Troy Brubaker. Brubaker joined the center in May to replace Elidia Webb, who retired recently. [continued]

May 26, 2009 - WSOS’ staffer earns management award
WSOS Development Coordinator, Cheryl Denny, was recently honored with Tiffin University’s Excellence in the Field of Organizational Management Award.

May 26, 2009 - Four inducted in county’s Senior Hall of Fame
The Sandusky County Senior Citizen Hall of Fame has inducted its seventh class of four at the Senior Citizens Day recently. The class included one Fremont resident, one Lindsey resident and two from Woodville.
